Why are we never satisfied?
What is
Satisfaction? Is it something visible or a constant feeling? What is the first thing that comes to our
mind when we think about satisfaction? If I talk about myself, I feel satisfaction
is happiness that is felt through our hard work. Now, there will be conflict
between two groups. Some will agree with me, some will disagree and a large
amount of people won’t bother to argue on this topic. The people who disagrees
what is their thought about satisfaction? These people believe that happiness
is not upmost satisfaction rather it is something that fulfills our happiness.
What is the difference? Difference is that if I am not happy I can be
satisfied, not necessarily satisfaction has to effectuate my happiness. Now, the
question arises that if satisfaction fails to make us happy then we can never
feel pleased? This is where I get the thought and my mind always fights with
each other that “Why we are never satisfied?” I had a friend when I was in class
one. By the grace of Almighty Allah, she had everything yet she used to complain,
“Nayeelah, you have such beautiful clothes, your handwriting is clear. Everything
about you is so pleasurable,” where she had amazing collection of clothes and
her handwriting was better than me. Even though her life was smooth but not
as smooth as her complain list. Well, jokes apart. This is just one silly
example of not being satisfied. There are several serious examples. Human being
has no limitations of their need. They are not smiling because they want more.
I don’t lack behind in this race. I work hard for something then I am not happy
with the outcome, but why? I worked hard
for something even if it didn’t work out I should be happy at least I tried.
Humans just want more. It’s always more and more but never finally I did it. This need of wanting more has become a barrier to our satisfaction. However, every cloud has
a silver lining. This need of wanting more is what keeps us alive and indulges
with positive energy. If we don’t have the spirit of working more, having more,
what will be our ultimate goal? Our vision is maximizing our desire otherwise
what is the point of being the best creature of Allah. At the end, satisfaction
should make a place to our heart not brain. It is very important to be
satisfied that leads to our happiness and paves the way to desiring more with
positive attribute.
